WASHINGTON, D.C. –Missouri Congressman Roy Blunt today made the following statement after voting against the Democrats’ more than $3 trillion budget:
“The sheer size of this bill is staggering enough without considering the flawed policies it implements. Policies like new energy taxes on American families and higher taxes on Good Samaritans are unreasonable in any economic condition but simply absurd during a recession.
“The budget Democrats passed today not only spends too much, borrows too much and taxes too much, it causes long-term harm to our economy and leaves our grandchildren footing the bill.
“Families, small businesses and farmers in Missouri are working harder than ever to make ends meet. They deserve more from their Congress than spending and taxes. That’s why I voted for a budget alternative that reins in spending, cuts taxes on hardworking Americans and helps create jobs on Main Street – not in Washington.”
